Art Safari’s creative adventures ‘out of Africa’ to Antarctica
Life on the ice (South)
19 days sailing from Puerto Madryn to the Falklands, South Georgia and the Antarctic
6 – 25 November 2014
With Mary-Anne Bartlett
Walk on the Antarctic islands as seen by millions on David Attenborough’s wildlife sensation: Frozen Planet on the BBC.
This Art Safari journey takes from Puerto Madryn to the Falklands, the wildlife heaven of South Georgia at a special time of year, and then on to the furthest limits of life on earth in the South Shetland islands and to Antarctica itself.
The wildlife is making the most of the light summer days for an intensive period of breeding and moulting. We sail aboard the well-appointed expedition vessel ‘Plancius’ and make it our home for 19 days.
Painting on our excursions on land as well as from the zodiacs and on board, we will aim to capture whales cresting waves, penguins with their chicks, icebergs and glaciers and an impression of the quiet world.
One-to-one art tuition and geographical, historical and scientific talks given by the expedition crew will immerse you completely in your awe-inspiring surroundings. Non-painters (and painters too)
