|We are very excited to be offering this brand new Art Safari to discover the fascinating history and cultural heritage, the diverse landscape and awesome wildlife of the beautiful island of Sri Lanka.
|On this new Art Safari painting holiday in Sri Lanka we voyage by boat from palm fringed beaches, through mangroves, remote villages and vast lagoons, and by slow meandering train through mountainous landscape, cloud forests with cascading waterfalls and lush tea fields.
|Sri Lankan people are renowned for being welcoming to travellers, it is a gentler place for visitors to navigate than some other parts of Asia.
Your tutor Mary-Anne will work with our knowledgeable local guide to make the most of every moment in Sri Lanka.
Mary-Anne will tutor you as you sketch and paint Sri Lanka’s ancient cities, temples and Buddhist Shrines, monasteries, Rock Fortresses, glorious gardens of scented roses, delicate orchids and medicinal plants.
|In the jungle scrub of Yala National Park, the mammal population includes Leopard, Asian Elephant, Sloth Bear, Jackal, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Buffalo, Wild Boar and Grey Langur. We take early morning and late evening game drives with our sketchbooks and cameras.
This is a time to be ready for quick sketching and keen observation of wildlife, aided by our naturalist guides – exhilarating, frustrating and fun!
|Mix and explore your colour palette to find the iridescent colours for Blue-tailed Bee-eaters and explore the extraordinary sweeping shapes of Malabar-pied Hornbills.
Throughout our time in Sri Lanka we stay in beautiful lodges and hotels where we can kick-back and relax in style.
|Sri Lankan cuisine is tantalising for the taste buds on this island of fragrant herbs and spices, try mouth-watering Sri Lankan curries, local seafood and King Coconuts. Snack on Sri Lankan Hoppers, delicious bowl shaped pancakes made with coconut milk and rice flour and filled with eggs or vegetables of sweet treats.
As the sun sets at the end of our adventure we will capture in our sketchbooks the birdlike figures of stilt fishermen at work in Ahangama.
|Tour cost per person sharing from: £3171
