I’m excited about painting this centre for well-being, there are so many points of interest for us to paint!

Enjoy a mini-painting holiday in the city of Bath with compulsive sketcher and generous tutor Maxine Relton who grew up in the city of well-being and architectural delights.

You will spend your days exploring the city with your sketchbooks, taking in museums, historical sights and beautiful views – all within walking distance.

We hope to capture the modern city as well as the city of Jane Austen. It’s an enticing, convivial and serene city, it invites a sense of creative intellect and calm, so you can expect a stimulating but relaxing sketching break.

Maxine will show you Bath in all its colour – both inside and out.  She also knows plenty of cosy cafes to pop into.

“My special connection with Bath stems from my early childhood, looking out on to the magnificent Royal Crescent from my bedroom window and being taken to school every week on the back of my mother’s bike, through Victoria Park and across the City. After completing my art studies in London, I was drawn back to this lovely region of steep wooded hills that can be glimpsed from all parts of the city.

My artist’s eye delights in the wonderfully integrated Georgian architecture, pale stone against the surrounding green hills.

I enjoy the reminders of Roman history – so much of which is still there to explore – and the cross-section of visitors from around the world which add vitality and interest to strolling through the heart of this beautiful city.

It will be a special pleasure to share my knowledge, experience and personal memories of Bath with Art Safari’s fellow artists.”

You will be staying in comfort in a charming boutique hotel in the city. The Kennard Boutique Hotel is a short walk from the river and the beating heart of the old Roman city and Bath Abbey.

Evenings are for exploring Bath’s restaurants together – we will book you all into highly recommended eateries.

Maxine will encourage you to share your artwork and your ideas, making this an intense learning experience full of delight.

We have divided the days into different themes, so we focus on water, stone, culture, faith, life and art.
