Wander the cobbled streets of Cambridge, sketching historic colleges, gardens and city folk.

Cambridge is a place with a great deal of historical significance and perfect for our paintbrushes!  There are lots of museums to visit including the Fitzwilliam, Kettles Yard and the Cast Gallery, all of which will be within walking distance from our plush hotel.

This holiday will encourage you to sketch and paint en Plein Air, working directly from our subject matter and focusing on capturing the essence of life around us. Mary-Anne will tutor the group during the days, encouraging artists of all abilities to practise the skilled art of life drawing and pay close attention to the extraordinary architecture surrounding us.

Our base for the week with be The Graduate Hotel, situated right next to the iconic Fitzwilliam Museum in the center of Cambridge. Each morning we will be able to step out into the hubbub of the city after a comfortable nights sleep. All rooms have an en suite and include a scrumptious breakfast for guests, so we will be well looked after during our stay.

Highlights of the trip will include visiting the Scott Polar Museum and the Botanical Gardens, both of which are connected to the ancient University of Cambridge. We will wander along the river Cam where there will be plenty of wildlife to sketch (for those missing the countryside) or groups of students (for those fancying the figurative). We will stop for those famous buns for tea, and enjoy supper in one of the numerous restaurants dotted about the city.

This trip is suitable for artists of all abilities, Mary-Anne will inspire and motivate you to have fun, relax and enjoy sketching.

If you live nearby and don’t fancy staying the night, there’s the option to join our merry crowd during the day! Please call us on 01394 382235 or email [email protected] to discuss and book.
