Time in Africa is large, each day seems to have many more hours in it than it possibly should do.   There is always something to look at, learn about, draw…  As an Art Safari artist, you can enjoy Africa time at its best on this wonderful foray into Zimbabwe, painting wildlife and landscape.

‘Long time’ is also a greeting when you haven’t seen a friend for ages.animals-scenery-09

Take out your new sketchbook, spend a few minutes surveying the scene around you, think about your composition, breathe, mix your colours, and start to paint. Where better to start than at Victoria Falls: ‘the smoke that thunders’ dominates the area, it is often visible from over 30miles away.

Our journey in Zimbabwe takes us to luxury lodges in stunning locations, with exceptional food, hospitality, safety and safari expert guiding so that you can make the most of your art tuition and your painting time.

We have many opportunities to paint wildlife thoughout the tour, with the highlight of Hwange National Park, which is particularly famous for its elephant population, one of the largest in the world.

Hwange boasts a tremendous selection of wildlife with over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species recorded.

For landscape artists (and photographers we go to Matobo National Park which was awarded Unesco World Heritage Status in 2003.

Rhino reflection2Our sketching outings will include a visit to the Intensive Protection Zone where a large population of Black and White Rhino are successfully breeding. Most importantly for our sketchbooks are the magnificent Matobo Hills, a range of domes, spires and balancing rock formations which have been hewn out of the solid granite plateau by through millennia of erosion and weathering.

In Bulawayo we have time to see the wide tree-lined avenues, parks and charming colonial architecture, staying in a castle before travelling to Masvingo and the Great Zimbabwe Ruins.

This is a tour to give yourself time to paint, reawaken, refresh and energise, to meet like-minded people and be in the presence of Africa’s magnificent wildlife.
