Art Safari Studio

Sketching where the land meets sea

With artist Claudia Myatt

Friday 24 June/Saturday 25 June 2016

10:00 to 16:00 on Friday

10:00 to lunchtime on Saturday

Sketching from life is the most effective way to develop your artistic eye. It is hugely enjoyable but it can be daunting, especially around boats and water. Marine artist Claudia Myatt will help you to develop your drawing skills and share her techniques for drawing boats, mud, moving water, waves and all things coastal. There will also be tips for improving your confidence for drawing in public.

The workshop takes place mostly in Art Safari’s riverside studio, where there is a wealth of material to be seen from the balcony and around the quayside. We will also be taking a trip to the coast at Felixstowe Ferry for a contrasting session on sketching beaches, open water and beach huts.  Transport is not provided, we will lift share to reduce the number of vehicles.

These sketching days are suitable for artists of all levels.

If you want to make a weekend of it, the colourful Woodbridge Regatta takes place on Sunday 26th June – boats are dressed with fluttering flags, rowing boats, kayaks and rafts splash about, there’s a crabbing competition, stalls, bands and plenty happening on the quayside.  A delightful day on the River Deben that presents you with excellent sketching opportunities.
