Learn about the art of Chinese painting and the skilled techniques using Chinese brush, inks and watercolour on bamboo paper

Spend a two days with Karen Pearson as an introduction to the art of Chinese painting and the skilled techniques using Chinese brush, inks and watercolour on bamboo paper. This ancient art of painting with it’s simplistic approach is hugely beneficial to watercolour artists. It is gentle, considered, absorbing, spiritual, and very rewarding with practise.

Join Karen for a hands-on session to explore the delights of using Chinese techniques in your paintings.

We’ll cover:

  • Materials, their properties and how they are used
  • How to be confident in mark making using Chinese brush
  • Discovering simplicity and space
  • How to create energy in your brushstrokes

Karen will work in ink and watercolour.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Meet Karen and the Art Safari team on Zoom for four hours of art demonstration and tuition time, which includes advice on sketching and painting using Chinese techniques.  She will also concentrate on how you can use Chinese techniques that will improve your watercolour skills.  Our way of working at Art Safari is to stretch your way of seeing and give you extra confidence in your lines.

In her demonstrations Karen will pick a subject to develop on camera while she talks you through her process.

You will have the option to paint from a variety of images to suit your taste from a library of photos you will receive as part of the course package.

You have time in between sessions to complete your work and submit images of your paintings for feedback on our private Facebook group or by email.

The workshop will be recorded so you will be able to watch the video online afterwards.
