Join us here in the studio for a workshop day on boats and all the wonderful subjects you find where land and water meet.
Working in a sketchbook format we will spend time in the studio looking at techniques for drawing boats, how to simplify a busy scene, how to mix colours of sea and shore, from rocky cliffs to muddy creeks – and how to make water look wet!
The workshop will start in the studio and then we will put our ideas into practice on the quayside outside Art Safari’s studio, with a walk along the river bank where we have a choice of subjects including creeks and saltings, small boats and a working boatyard.
Suitable for beginners as well as experienced artists who feel they need more confidence and techniques to tackle these fascinating subjects. You certainly don’t need to be a sailor to draw maritime subjects; you just need to have a love of the sea and the desire to have a splash of salt in your sketchbook!
Draw and paint with us:
Claudia Myatt is a well known marine illustrator who has taken her sketchbook on most of the world’s oceans. She works mainly in watercolour and pens, sketchbook style, but you are welcome to join us with whatever medium you feel most comfortable.
To help you prepare we will send you a short list of suggested art materials to bring with you.
